Admissions
Welcome to our Admissions page. Here, you will find key information about how to apply for a place at our school, including important policies and procedures outlined in our Admissions Policy.
How to Apply for our Reception intake
Published Admission Number (PAN)
Our Published Admission Number (PAN) for Reception class is 90. This is the maximum number of places available for the school year.
Parents should apply for a place in Reception through the coordinated admissions process managed by Knowsley Local Authority. Applications can be submitted online via the Knowsley School Admissions pages by the national closing date of 15 January 2025. Allocation decisions will be communicated on 16 April 2025.
For in-year applications (Years 1–6 or Reception after the coordination process has closed), parents should contact the school directly to inquire about availability and apply.
Oversubscription Criteria
If we receive more applications than the number of available places, we will allocate places based on the following priorities:
- Looked After Children or previously Looked After Children, including those adopted from outside England.
- Children with a sibling attending the school at the time of admission.
- Distance from the child’s home to the school, measured in a straight line, with those living closer receiving priority.
For full details and important notes about these criteria, please refer to the Admissions Policy document linked below.
Entry to Reception and Deferral Options
Children can begin Reception in the school year they turn five. However, parents of children who are not yet of compulsory school age (those born between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026) may:
- Request a delayed start to the school year.
- Request part-time attendance until their child reaches compulsory school age.
These requests should be made directly to the Headteacher and must be in the child’s educational best interest.
Admission Outside Normal Age Group
Parents of summer-born children (born between 1 April and 31 August) may request to defer their child’s start to Reception by a full year, meaning they join a younger cohort.
- Requests should be submitted with supporting evidence by the 15 January 2025 application deadline for the typical entry year.
- Approval is not guaranteed and will depend on the individual circumstances and Headteacher recommendations.
If the request is approved, the application will still follow the standard admissions process and oversubscription criteria for the deferred year.
In-Year Applications and Admissions
If you are moving to this area and are interested in a place for your child, please click here to complete our online application form.
In-year applications are for children seeking a school place outside the typical entry point (e.g., mid-year transfers or applications for Years 1–6).
- In-year applications are administered at the school level.
- Parents should contact the school directly to check for availability in the relevant year group.
If the year group is full, the oversubscription criteria listed above will determine the child’s position on the waiting list. Waiting lists are maintained throughout the academic year, and placements will be offered as spaces become available.

Nursery Applications and Admissions
In addition to our school admissions details, here is key information for parents considering a place in our nursery class.
Eligibility and Entry
Children are eligible to join a school nursery class from the term following their third birthday. For example:
- A child turning three between September and December can start in January.
- A child turning three between January and March can start in April.
- A child turning three between April and August can start in September.
Application Process
Applications for nursery places are made directly to the school, not through the local authority. Parents can obtain a School Nursery Application Form from the school office, or download it from the Knowsley Council website. Each school manages its nursery applications and admissions independently.
You may apply to multiple nurseries, but you must complete a separate application for each. If your application is successful, the school will confirm your child’s start date and request documentation, such as a birth certificate and proof of address.
Oversubscription and Prioritization
If there are more applications than places available, the following priorities apply:
- Looked After Children or previously Looked After Children.
- Children with siblings already attending the school.
- Proximity of the child’s home to the school.
Important Considerations
- A nursery place does not guarantee admission to the school’s Reception class. A separate application must be made for Reception in line with the Knowsley Primary School Admissions process.
- Applications are considered termly, and deadlines vary based on the intended start term. For example, for a September start, applications should be submitted by the preceding March.

If you have questions or need further assistance, please contact the school office directly.
