This year's performances
As you know, at Christmas time we have always had short, singing performances from each year group in KS2, as well as the big Infant and Reception productions. Although this has been a nice opportunity for you to come in and see your child perform festive songs, it has meant that some parents are having to come in several times to see all of their different children and there have been no other performances from the children in Year 3,4 and 5 throughout the rest of the year. It has also meant that children who have shown themselves to be excellent actors, dancers and soloists in Year Two may not get another opportunity to perform again until Year Six.
This year we have decided to try something new! Instead of Christmas performances from Years 3,4,5 and 6, each year group will get the opportunity to do a big performance during the course of the year. These will include dance, drama and music and will allow the children to show off their performing arts skills to good effect.
The Year Five aged children are already rehearsing for their Harvest performance, which is next Thursday (Thursday 20th October@2pm). It is sounding and looking great. The children have made up their own dance and poetry and there will also be singing, drumming and drama during the show.
The Year Three aged children will get their chance to perform at Easter (Friday 31st March@9:30am) which will be another full on performance, allowing the children to get dressed up, act, dance and sing within their own show!
As Year Four aged children are learning musical instruments this year, they will have three performances during the course of the year. These will take place at Christmas (Thursday 8th December@2:15pm), Easter (Thursday 23rd March@2:15pm) and Summer (TBA). During these performances, there will be singing, rapping and of course, performances on their instruments.
The Year Six aged children will wait until the end of the year for their show which will take place in their final few weeks at Plantation (Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th July@6pm).
This means that everything does not happen at Christmas and there will be lots of opportunities across the year for Parents to come in and enjoy their child’s performance. It also means that every child gets the opportunity to take part in a big concert every year, rather than just singing in a Christmas performance.
