Return to school Wednesday 6th September
Dear parent/carer
I hope you have had a good summer and you are ready for the start of the new school year.
School opens to children on Wednesday 6th September at 8.45am – please note that Reception children will have staggered start dates, and this has been communicated already by Mrs Ekoku and the Early Years team.
If you have passed our school over the summer holidays, you can’t help but notice the contractors on site and the new temporary buildings being installed on the school field.
While there have been delays with these temporary classrooms, we will have the rooms open and working from Wednesday. There are going to be eight classes using the twelve classrooms on the school field. Four of the classrooms will not be complete on time, however, this will only impact directly on two classes (Year 6) who will use two different classrooms for the first few days of term before moving properly to their actual classrooms. No classes will have to share rooms and every class will have their own classroom from when we open – Year 6 will move rooms once their actual rooms are completed. (None of this will interrupt the children’s learning - they will be using two of the temporary classrooms that would normally be for group activities and the rooms are identical to all the other temporary classrooms.)
I will be completing a walking tour of the school grounds tomorrow (Friday 1st September) and from this I will confirm the arrangements for drop off in the mornings and pick up at home time. I will send this out at the start of next week via email and the school website. Please note, school start and finish times will remain the same for all children - Reception to Year 6 starting at 8.45am and finishing at 3.15pm; Nursery running as usual from 8.30am and finishing at 3.30pm.
As I have communicated to staff, thank you in advance for the patience and support I know we will all give over the next twelve months. There is no avoiding the changes to our normal routines we will have to undertake; however, this is very much worth it, and it is a short term inconvenience that will provide us with much better facilities for years to come.
Once again, I hope your family has had a good summer holiday period and I look forward to welcoming you back to school on Wednesday morning.
Kind regards
Mr Hanley
