@HughesandCook

Welcome back children, we are so excited to see you all and we are looking forward to a great year ahead together.

Please check our class page regularly for any important updates. We will also post photos, class news and general reminders on our class Twitter page @CookChadwick1 so please follow us!

Key Information:

PE:

Our PE days are:

  • Tuesday (outdoor PE)
  • Thursday (indoor PE)

On days where your child has a PE lesson they should attend school in their kit for the full day.

  • Plain white t-shirt or polo shirt
  • Plain black shorts
  • Black tracksuit top and bottoms, black leggings may also be worn
  • Trainers or pumps
  • Other sports kits, such as football strips, are not appropriate and should not be worn

Please make sure that all clothing is clearly labelled.

Water bottles/snacks:

Every child should bring in a bottle of water each day with their name clearly labelled on it so that they can have a drink when required (only still water as we are a healthy school). Children do not need to bring in snacks, as fruit is provided at snack time in Year 1.

Homework:

Reading

Your child will bring home a colour banded book which will match his/her reading ability. Please read and discuss this book with your child as we encouraging comprehension as well fluency. Good questions to ask can be found in the front section of your child's planner.

This book will be changed once a week by the class teacher during the guided reading session.

If your child is still on the Read, Write Inc. Phonics programme, they will bring a book bag book home every three days.

Your child will also bring home a ‘Reading for Pleasure’ book. These books are not allocated a particular level and they will be selected by your child, based on his/her own interests. Children may wish to take the same texts home more than once and we allow this as they developed their own taste in books.

Planners should be taken home and returned to school daily. The expectation is that children read at home at least four times a week and this activity should be signed off by a parent/guardian.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch,

Thank you so much for your support,

Mrs Cook and Miss Hughes.
