25.05.17 - Plantation become Knowsley Swimming Champions!!

Date: 25th May 2017 @ 5:27pm

The success keeps on rolling at Plantation! After Y3's football heroics last week, our swimming team have exceeded all expectations by winning 8 of the races at the Knowsley Gala finals to become Knowsley champions! All of the children's dedication and hard work during our Friday morning sessions was rewarded with the children's best swims of the year! I was incredibly proud of how well they all swam but more importantly how much support they gave each other during each race. The children were genuinely thrilled when their fellow team mates won, and that showed me what extra qualities our children have! Whilst all of our children did our school proud, the star performers of the gala were Sam H and Ava G. Sam was the first member of the team to swim on the day, and he showed no fear in blasting his way to victory. He finished the gala with three wins, with his butterfly stroke leaving other schools in awe! Ava G went one better with 4 wins, winning every race that she entered. She genuinely does not know how talented she is, as she was nervous before every race. However, she showed the signs of a true champion by performing under pressure to not only win her individual races, but also to support her fellow swimmers in the relay races too!

This victory means that we and Halewood CoE get to take swimmers to the Merseyside games at Wavertree. I am ecstatic that we get to share this with Halewood CoE, as it shows how talented our area is for swimming!

I would like to thank Mrs Henry and Mrs Winstanley for supporting the team on the day. Without them, we wouldn't have been able to attend the gala!

Pictures of the children will be uploaded soon!
