Well done to us! Plantation has achieved the School Games Gold award.

Well done to us! Plantation has achieved the School Games Gold award.

The School Games Mark is a Government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Schools in England are able to assess themselves and achieve bronze, silver or gold awards.

The School Games is a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport. Their vision is to make a clear and meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people.

The School Games aims to

  • Provide more opportunities for those currently not engaged in competitive sport and help all children achieve their potential.

  • Provide access to a range of competition formats to offer new and exciting options to children.

  • Maximise the impact of competitive school sport to develop children’s personal skills.

  • Offer opportunities for children to develop leadership skills through volunteer roles.

  • Complement other initiatives in the school which encourage a wide range of children to participate in sport.

  • Through four levels of competitive sport, children have the opportunity to get involved, have fun and challenge themselves.

Well done everyone! Achieving this award is a testimony to the hard work and dedication of all staff at Plantation as it could not have been achieved without everyone working together. However, a special mention must go to our PE Coordinator Mr Sanders, who has led and driven the school forwards throughout the year to help us achieve this award.

Next up – the newly created Platinum award!
