wb26.02.18 - Lower 8

Date: 2nd Mar 2018 @ 11:50am

This week has been test week, so we have been completing a lot of exams. However, World Book Day was on Thursday and we spent the whole afternoon focusing on our book 'I Live in Tokyo' by Mari Takabayashi'. We shared our research projects (see the photographs below!) and we even had a try at learning Japanese numbers! We also looked at different Japanese Sports day events and we discovered that they do some dangerous things such as acrobatics and samurai sword fights! Our favourite activity though was our Japanese poetry challenge. We learned about Japanese Haiku poetry and Mr Sanders gave us a challenge to create riddle poems that followed the 5,7,5 syllable pattern. We then had the chance to read our poems out and our friends had to guess what our poems were about! World Book Day definitely made up for having to do lots of tests this week!
