Parking outside school

Date: 12th Oct 2016 @ 11:48am

Some of you will be aware that there were a number of people in the areas around school today looking at the parking issues we have for our school community - parents and school neighbours.  I am keen to ensure that our children always arrive safely in school and I am aware of the issues of finding somewhere to park when you are doing the school run.  I am informed that there will be infrequent visits around the streets surrounding our school by Civil Enforcment Officers (Civil Enforcement Officer (CEO) is the new name for Parking Attendants, or Traffic Wardens as they are often still called. The Traffic Management Act 2004 specifies this new name because as the name implies, the prime function of a CEO is to enforce legislation governed by Civil Law).  I ask if parents can please ensure the following:

  • always park in a place where you can drop your children off safely and are not putting other children at risk
  • park in consideration of our neighbours, ensuring you are not blocking their access to and from home
  • park legally so as not to put yourself under pressure of a potential parking ticket

As a parent myself, the most important point above is the safety and well-being of our pupils, your children.  Please always park and drive with this in mind.  Thank you
