National School Sports Week - Day 5 (30/06/17)

Date: 30th Jun 2017 @ 5:15pm

Finally, the rain has stopped, meaning that our planned competition day got the go ahead and what an enjoyable day it was!

Year 1 kicked us off with their basketball competition! Mrs Chadwick, Mrs Cook and Mr Price were so impressed with how well the children supported their class mates, even if they did not win! Well done to our children who achieved 3rd, 2nd and 1st place!

Mrs Chiocchi and Miss Ellis' classes were next up, this time with the cricket stumps challenge. All of the children showed great skill and determination to hit the stumps, but Alex H overcame all of the challenges to win the gold medal! Well done to him, as well as our children who finished 2nd and 3rd.

Miss Robinson, Mrs Dundon and Mr Sanders' classes had the 'Last man standing' hockey challenge, and all of our children showed off their fantastic hockey skills in defending and dribbling. The final was a close affair, with Aidan P in 3rd place, Joel G in 2nd place and Lucas G in 1st place!

Tennis was on the agenda for Mrs Rotherham and Mr Houghton's classes, and the teachers' competitive spirit added extra spice to this competition. The children had to return the tennis ball over the net and into the court to stay in the competition. Well done to our 3rd, 2nd and 1st placed children!

The tri-golf equipment was back out today for our Year 5 children with the putting challenge. With the uneven ground on the MUGA, the challenge became even trickier for our children, but Mia C, Aston A and Callum G held their nerve to achieve 3rd, 2nd and 1st place!

Finally, the teachers' favourite competition was upon us with the Dodgeball 'Gauntlet run'. Our Year 6 children had to dodge the balls as they ran through the gauntlet. However, our teachers had the opportunity to get their own back because they were the ones throwing the balls!! The final run had Abi D, Ella R and Safa A battling it out for the medals, and Abi got the bronze, Ella got the silver and Safa got the gold!

In the afternoon, our celebration assemblies became our medal ceremonies, which was a wonderful end to a wonderful week of sport.
