LGBT Week in Year 6.

Date: 24th Feb 2018 @ 2:47pm

To celebrate LGBT month, this week in Year 6 we have been learning about the rugby player Gareth Thomas. Thomas is the first rugby player to come out as gay and his bravery and honesty has inspired many others to open up about their sexuality.

The talented sportsman once said that he wanted to be known as a rugby player, rather than ‘that gay rugby player.’ This got us thinking about how we want be defined. We all agreed that we should be defined by our talents and beliefs, rather than our gender, sexuality or ethnicity.

As a year group, we created a display to celebrate our differences and to acknowledge how special and unique each and every member of Year 6 is.

On Friday, we enjoyed showcasing this display to the rest of the school and we were lucky enough to visit other year groups to see their imaginative and exciting LGBT projects.
