Keep Calm and Eat Healthy-Lower 3

Date: 3rd Oct 2016 @ 5:48pm

This afternoon we had a visit from Lexi from Schools4Health who came into our school to talk to Year 1 about healthy eating, and how to stay fit and healthy. We had a discussion about the different food groups, and the benefits that eating well can have on our minds and bodies! We also had the opportunity to make our own strawberry and banana smoothies, using strawberries, bananas and milk, and Lexi taught us how to slice fruit safely and carefully. Four children had the chance to try this, and then Eva was chosen to switch the blender on! It didn't take long for the smoothies to be ready, and everybody tasted the smoothie and enjoyed it! A couple of children who thought they wouldn't like it, or hadn't had a smoothie before, thought it was delicious.

Sienna and Jenson won a special prize, as they remembered complicated words (carbohydrates and protein!) and Elliott won a prize for sharing his smoothie with a friend. Ethan was such a brilliant listener, and tried a smoothie for the first time so he also won a prize!

Well done to the children in my class for their fantastic behaviour and listening when we had a special visitor to our school and class :)
