14.11.17 - 'Test Yourself Tuesdays' - Round 1 of our Indoor-Athletics Intra-school competition - Standing Long Jump

Date: 16th Nov 2017 @ 8:43am

Tuesday was the start of our indoor athletics competitions for all children from year 1 to year 6. These competitions will give every child in KS1 and KS2 the chance to take part in competitive sport. Round 1 of this competition was the standing long jump. Children had to stand on the mat with both of their feet behind the line. They then had to propel themselves as far as they could across the mat, and their closest body part to the starting line would be where we measured to. The standard of jumping was incredible in both key stages, and it was great to see somany children wanting to get involved in the competition.

In lower school, we had Tyler in 3rd place with a jump of 1.40m and Jenson in 2nd place with a jump of 1.49m. However, the star of the competition was Niamh who jumped a staggering 1.60m to win the gold medal! Well done Niamh!!

In upper school, we had Callum in 3rd place with a jump of 1.82m and Sam in 2nd place with a jump of 1.86m. The winner was Joe with a jump of 1.92m! That is the length of Mr Sanders (we won't be testing that in assembly any time soon!). Congratulations Joe on receiving the gold medal!
